POSITION TITLE: Advancing Barton County Childcare Center Director
REPORTS TO: ABCC, Inc. Board of Directors
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
SALARY LEVEL: Based on qualifications; range from $46,000 – $60,000

Position Summary:
The Director is responsible for the management and operations of the ABCC Child Care Center, including high-quality programming to children and families enrolled at the center. Additional responsibilities will include community outreach activities, building and maintaining collaborative partnerships, fundraising, and fiscal management. The Director will be held accountable for all forms of public communication for the ABCC Child Care Center, along with recruitment, evaluation, and supervision of staff. This position is based in Great Bend, KS and reports to the ABCC, Inc. Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience:
Able to meet KDHE program director licensure requirements for a center director serving 24 to 99 children through one of the following options:
(KDHE Reg. K.A.R. 28-4-429)

Option One: Twelve semester hours of academic study or equivalent training in child development, early childhood education, curriculum resources, nutrition, child guidance, parent education, supervised practicum, and administration of early childhood programs; and six months of teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools.

Option Two: A child development associate credential and one year of teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools, or supervised practicum in licensed centers or preschools.

Option Three: An associate of arts degree or a two-year certificate in child development; and one year of teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools, or a supervised practicum in licensed centers or preschools.
 
Option Four: An A.B. or B.S. degree in child development or early childhood education, including a supervised practicum; and three months of teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools.

Option Five: An A.B. or B.S. degree in a related academic discipline, and 12 hours of academic study or equivalent training in child development, early childhood education, curriculum resources, nutrition, child guidance, parent education, supervised practicum, and administration of early childhood programs; and six months teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Advanced degree in a field related to early childhood education and/or program administration. Able to meet KDHE program director licensure requirements for a center director serving more than 100 children through one of the following options:

A degree in child development or early childhood education OR an A.B. or B.S. degree in a related academic discipline and 12 hours of academic study or equivalent training in child development, early childhood education, curriculum resources, nutrition, child guidance, parent education, supervised practicum, and administration of early childhood programs; AND one year of experience as a program director in a center licensed for more than 24 children, or one year of experience as an assistant program director in a center licensed for more than
100 children.

More than three years of experience in a childcare related position or equivalent experience in a leadership position for a non-profit organization or educational organization. Other related experience may be considered.

Essential Functions:
·       Maintain knowledge of, and ensure organizational compliance with, all applicable state and local child care regulations as well as other regulatory requirements.
·       Lead the organization in service development, including organizational and financial plans and policies authorized by the Board of Directors.
·       Remain abreast of best practices and research within the child care field. Regularly review and propose appropriate contracts, policies, and procedures for review/approval by the Board.
·       Maintain positive working relationships with staff, stakeholders, and family members of children in care.
·       Foster positive relationships with other organizations and employers. Responsibilities include media/social media, active participation in community initiatives, and public relations.
·       Develop promotional and other materials, such as brochures and PowerPoint presentations. Present information effectively, both orally and in writing.
·       Work closely with the Board of Directors to fulfill organizational responsibilities to manage and carry out day-to-day program functions.
·       Lead all Human Resource Management/Development initiatives; including recruitment, retention, supervision, evaluation, and termination of personnel; staff development and education; positive work climate; and succession planning.
·       Ensure training and documentation is sufficient to meet professional development plans for each staff member.
·       Develop safety standards and procedures in accordance with KDHE licensing regulations and other regulatory requirements.
·       Ensure appropriate resources are allocated for the maintenance and custodial needs of the facility.
·       Responsible for the overall financial health of Great Bend Child Care. Oversee all accounting and financial operations, ensuring the organization stays within budgetary and compliance guidelines.
·       Establish and maintain appropriate fiscal systems including general ledger and monthly reporting. Systems must ensure accurate parent/guardian payment accounts with responsibility for timely payment, payroll functions, and accounts payable.
·       Adhere to financial and regulatory limitations of all revenue sources, including DCF Child Care Assistance, Child and Adult Care Food Program, and other grants/contracts as awarded.
·       Ensure compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program including food service processes and reporting.
·       Participate in opportunities for additional funding such as grant writing.
·       Work in collaboration with the board on short and long-term strategic planning.
·       Able to use software programs as necessary for the work being performed, including but not limited to the Google Suite and Microsoft Office Products. Knowledge of accounting or asset design software (such as adobe suite or Canva) is helpful but not required.
·       Must be able to meet a stringent background check to ensure regulatory compliance, including but not limited to offenses or crimes against persons or felonies.
·       Other duties as assigned.
